Man Sees Bright White Light Travel in Easterly Across Night Sky

Date of Sighting: March 16, 2009
Time of Sighting: 9:20 PM CDT
Location of Sighting: Mankato, Kansas

Description: I witnessed a bright white light travel approximately 20 miles over the North Central Kansas/South Central Nebraska area. The object traveled east at a constant speed for what I would consider 15 miles. The light never increased nor decreased in intensity as it traveled east. The light did not strobe or flicker like conventional aircraft. I could not hear jet noise or helicopter noise. After traveling east it began to bend northward and finally traveled north-northeast. After only traveling maybe another 5 miles the light decreased and quickly turned an orange/red color. The object then disappeared. You could not see any trail behind the object similar to a 'shooting star'. Coincidentally I had witnessed a 'shooting star' 10 minutes prior and the objects had no resemblance whatsoever. The object was too high for any photo or video to be taken and the event only took 1 to 2 minutes!

Note: I believe that the witness saw the International Space Station (ISS) which was visible in the area and at the time of his sighting. He did state that the object changed direction and color, but this observation could have been a misperception.
