Merlin is in Southwestern Oregon.

Description: I saw what seemed to be the largest, brightest star in the sky above the tree line to the Southwest. It began flashing red, bright white, silver, gold and appeared to be moving up towards me. At that point I thought it was a jet or a plane headed to the airport that is near here. As I watched it it started making erratic movements side to side, then up, then hovering and then down again. I have worked in aviation. This was no aircraft. I watched it for about 20 minutes and went in.

Note: There were no planets in the area of the sky where the witness saw the light. The report also does not fit descriptions of other possible phenomena (meteor, satellite, etc). Also the witness has a background in aviation. (The type of aviation experience is not known.)
