Sighting Reports 2009 Man Sees Bright Slow Moving Red Light Moving Across Sky

Pemberton is About 100 Miles North of the U.S. Border.
Date of Sighting: October 10, 2009
Time of Sighting:7:05 PM PDT
Location of Sighting: Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada
Description: I live in a Mountain Valley. It as almost dark and no stars were visible yet. I saw a bright red Light over the well defined mountain peaks in a perfectly clear sky moving towards me at a slow rate. It was high up like a light plane or helicopter. It drew my attention because it was red. It slowed, moved left and stopped. Then it slowly faded out to nothing. I waited over ten minutes. I saw nothing. The sky was light and clear enough to see a vehicle if it was present without lights. It was a very definite sighting and my first. I am good at visual spotting and I am a photographer.
Additional Information Provided by Witness: Unfortunately the event happened so quickly I did not think or have time to grab a recording device. The valley I live in has quite busy air traffic with helicopters fighting fires, recreational gliders and para gliders. This has made me a keen observer and quite sensitive to anything of an unusual nature. The town here, Pemberton has a population of only 2,000 and we are twenty minutes from Whistler Blackcomb Ski resort which is hosting the Winter Olympics in a few months. I am keenly aware of the usual navigation lights used my aircraft in this area and this craft only had an orange-red glow that did not alter in intensity when changing direction, which one would expect a fixed beam to do.
I have read many of the recent reports on your site and noticed a few that exhibited the same sudden disappearance and behavior.
I will certainly keep my eyes up when I am out hiking and camping in the wilderness here. The sky is big and clear with no population centers to distract the view.
Thank you for the interest you have shown in my report.
Note: The witness has provided a very descriptive report. Given his report I don't have an explanation.
