Sighting Reports 2009

Bright Round Object Half Size of The Moon Seen by Two

Date of Sighting: May 20, 2009
Time of Sighting: Around 9:30 to 10 PM PDT
Location of Sighting: Just Off of Highway 101 Between Sequim & Port Angeles, Washington

Description: This is in addition to the sighting near Satsop, Washington on May 20, 2009.  We live between Port Angeles and Sequim on the Olympic Peninsula, just off highway 101.  Around 9:30 - 10:00 PM, I was outside with my dog letting him have the last walk of the evening.  My friend was upstairs on the deck.  A bright, round object appeared between the trees.  The object was about 1/2 the size of the moon.  I noticed it and headed upstairs to the deck to have a better look.  At the same time, my friend saw it.  By the time I got upstairs, it had disappeared.  I thought I must be imagining things, but my friend told me about his sighting of the object before I could tell him.

Note: It is not known if this object was the same object seen between Elma and Montesano, Washington at 10:53 PM on the same night. The sighting sounds unusual given that the object was large (1/2 the size of the moon) and appeared only briefly low in sky.
