Location of Sighting: Saugus, California (S. California About 30 Miles NW of Los Angeles)

Description: I saw a pulsing red ball in the sky then it disappeared? I have never seen anything like it. It was about the size of Jupiter in the sky, but was pulsing and flickering like it was burning. The ball drifted a little bit to the west, then faded to a dot of light and disappeared. It looks like that July 5th video 2009.

Second Report by Witness: I am an astronomer and I have never seen anything like it. It faded, drifted off sideways then up to a point of light and then it was gone.

Note: If I just read the first report, I would say that the witness saw a meteor. However, given that he said that he was an astronomer and that the object moved sideways then up would make that explanation quite unlikely.
