Description: I was driving home late Friday night on the 18th of September. As I was headed south on Highway 65, I proceeded to slow down to make my right hand turn onto Smasal Road. While pulling onto the shoulder I noticed a very bright orange light in the southwestern sky. As I slowly turned down Smasal, not breaking my eye contact, a second light appeared. The second object appeared to the original's 4 o' clock, and I was now viewing these objects in my driver side window to the south. The second seemed smaller than the first. The second object appeared in a very strange way. (I can only describe it now, I'll make some depictions and send them in.) It appeared as if it came out from behind a cloud. I saw the left edge first and then it moved to the east revealing the rest of it. There were NO CLOUDS that night and no moon. Only stars were visible. There were no lights in the area to reflect off of my windshield. There was a radio tower, but it was a blinking red light and not even close to how big these things were. So I was watching the two objects move, staggered to one another, toward the east. Then a group of about 8 to 10 smaller orange objects in a cluster, appeared in the same fashion as the second. The objects all moved together toward the east and then they all of a sudden darted back towards the west from behind me. They all seemed to disappear behind the sky. I have been trying to talk to someone about this since it happened. Even stranger, on the following Monday, I couldn't get it out of my head. I told about 3 people that morning and got mixed looks, until that evening when I told another friend. He is from my home town of Sedalia and lived just to the north of where I saw the objects. Half jokingly I said to him, "Next time your back home you need to keep an eye in the sky." I began to tell him my story and he looked shocked, but not because of my story per say. I didn't mention the color or the exact time I saw them, I didn't have to. He told me that on the very same night, at the very same time, he was traveling southward on HWY 13 from Warrensburg, MO with his brother. He said that they had seen bright orange lights in the distance in the southeast. We got out a map and tracked our positions at that time and our view points, they both crossed over Benton County, MO. Note that all of this happened about 40 to 50 miles south of Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB). I hope that fellow south central Missourians have seen these lights. Whiteman AFB is up to something.

Note: Perhaps the witnesses observed flares associated with military exercises (from Whiteman AFB). However, if the witness's observation of an abrupt change in direction is correct, then flares are an unlikely explanation.
