Man Sees Light Moving Rapidly NNW in Night SkyDate of Sighting: August 22, 2009
Time of Sighting: 9:15 PM Local Time
Location of Sighting: Warrington, Cheshire, England
Description: I saw a bright orange/yellow light, moving in a north-northwesterly direction. The light was completely silent. The height was at least 10,000 feet, but could easily be more. I watched it travel across the sky completely straight around 10 times quicker than a jet plane. The light was constant and never flickered. I watched it until it went out of sight. It covered 60% of the night sky (as much as I could see) in no more than a minute.
Note: A check of satellite positions shows that no bright satellites were in the area at the time that moved in the direction stated by the witness. The object could have been a meteor, but the witness did not mention a trail behind the light.
