Sighting Reports 2010Woman Hears Ripping, Tearing. Sees Large Airborne Rectangular Object
Date of Sighting: August 15, 2010
Description: This sighting was reported by my girlfriend who is reluctant to report. She was outside our place of work at about 3 or 4 in the morning when she heard a "ripping, tearing" sound like as if "you were holding a plastic bag out the window of a moving car." She further described this sound as "pulling cloth," but immediately thought it could be the sound of "lightening" though there were no storms in the area and the wind was barely blowing. She heard this sound a second time, about 30 seconds later. She describes both sounds as "very loud, louder than a car horn." She walked into the parking lot of the workplace, which is on the top of a high hill, and heard the sound a third time which drew her attention to a dark object, rectangular in shape, but like a modern parachute. It was night, and the lighting not good, but she saw a rectangular object "Gliding," "Swooping, not flapping" but dipping and soaring like a "Hang glider" would. It dipped, swooped up, then down again and disappeared around a corner. She says it was the size of an automobile, had no lights or colorings, was "just a dark shape" against the night background. There were no storms that night, there were no high winds. She cannot identify any man-made thing which could make the sound she struggles to describe, nor think of any man-made object which she can liken the dark shape she witnessed. It could be a parachutist, but with the terrain and the sound, we have no explanation. And again, this occurred at 3 or 4 in the morning August 15, 2010 (Saturday night into Sunday morning). I would like some input. We aren't crackpots and this isn't a crackpot sighting. She saw what she saw, and has no explanation. I am not looking for a reality show here. I just want to know if anyone has reported this type of event.
Note: It almost sounds like this thing was "alive." This is close to the area (West Virginia) that has had several "Mothman" sightings.
