Sighting Reports 2010

Erratic Moving Light in Night Sky Changes Brightness

Date of Sighting: January 23-24, 2010
Time of Sighting: 11:30 PM - 12:08 AM EST
Location of Sighting: Franklin, Massachusetts (About 20 Miles Southwest of Boston)

Description: I was watching TV and I looked outside and saw an abnormally bright star and said huh, cool. So I watched it and thought I saw it move, but then thought no its probably my eyes playing tricks on me. Then I started watching it a little more and then it shot straight upward like a rocket. It then stopped and would move side to side and stop and would get dimmer and brighter. It continued to move and stop so I watched it for awhile. Then it started flying away and it would lower itself and move up a little and side to side and in circles. I took a video, but it doesn't really prove anything because the UFO was the only light in the sky that the video captured. No stars, planes or anything else was captured by the video camera.

Note: Skies were clear at the time of the sighting. The long length of the sighting suggests that the witness could have been fooled by a celestial object (bright star or planet). Stationary objects can appear to move when viewed for a considerable time through an optical illusion called autokinesis.
