Time of Sighting: 9:51 PM PST
Location of Sighting: Ocean Shores, Washington (See Map)

Description: I set out my 3rd generation infrared (IR) monocular coupled with a high resolution Olympus "Tough" camera on a tripod to take videos on a clear night. Some photographers have found unusual phenomena in the sky that show up in the infrared spectrum. About one hour of footage was taken. A few frames showed a bright light that was flashing at differing intervals. The light moved downward and towards the left. The light was over the water in the Bay to the east of Ocean Shores. The camera microphone did not detect any sound associated with the light. The video was taken at an azimuth of 60 degrees true north and the camera (on tripod) was pointed at about 40 degrees elevation above the horizon. The temperature was 44 degrees fahrenheit and the wind was from the north at 8 mph.

Note: The light could have been a Coast Guard helicopter, but what is unusual is that the light was descending down close to the water and no sound was detected. The light also was flashing at irregular intervals which is not characteristic of a helicopter.
