Sighting Reports 2010 Beacon-Like Light Flashes Every 10 -20 Min. In Sky Over Atlantic Ocean

Patchogue is on the Southern Part of Long Island.
Date of Sighting: April 1, 2010
Time of Sighting: 10:30 PM EDT
Location of Sighting: Patchogue, New York (See Map)
Description: I saw a stationary - "Beacon like" light flashing every 15 to 20 minute. The light was seen south over the Atlantic Ocean from the middle of Long Island, New York south shore.
Witness Response to Investigator Questions: I saw it a total of 4 times last night, each time it flashed it was visible for about 1 to 2 seconds. It was like watching a lighthouse light flash only in longer intervals - around 15 minutes apart. Like a lighthouse light, it would gradually get brighter, then peak out shining super bright and then dim down.
Yes, I saw many stars last night, the sky was clear. I saw it again tonight in the same area.
Its not a star, its a very bright light and its very large. As far as location if you looked at a map of Long Island, it would be straight south of the Fire Island Pines.
