Man Sees Bright Stationary Flashing Light in Night Sky
Rio Grande is on the Northeastern Portion of the Island of Puerto Rico
About 20 Miles East-Southeast of San Juan.
Date of Sighting: January 19, 2010 (Similar Sighting Occurred in Nov, 2009)
Time of Sighting: 11 PM Local Time
Location of Sighting: Rio Grande, Puerto Rico
Description: I was feeding my dog in my backyard when I took a little glimpse of the sky above me and I saw this little flash of white light just straight up in the middle of the sky near the belt of the Orion constellation. At first I thought that it was an aircraft, but after watching it for a couple of seconds I realized it wasn't an airplane. There where no other lights, just this little white flash almost like an airplane strobe light. It wasn't moving at all so I discarded the aircraft possibility. Then I thought of a satellite, but I have seen satellites before and they move a lot faster than this object so I eliminated that possibility also. It appeared to be in the vicinity of the 50,000 plus feet range. It just stood there for like 5 minutes and then it just disappeared. This is the third time that I seen this phenomena were I live. It was definitely a UFO. If you have any information on this type of sighting, let me know. Thank you.
Note: The light has some characteristics of an Iridium Flare satellite, but the stationary position would rule this explanation out.
Comments Received February 6, 2010: I have now twice observed this exact same phenomenon. The location in the sky and his overall description match exactly what I am seeing. The only thing I would add is it seems to vary in intensity from flash to flash. I first saw it two nights ago and then I saw it again tonight (February 6, 2010). I am located on the central coast of California.
