Location of Sighting: San Jose, California (N. CA About 30 Miles SE of San Francisco)

Description: I was on my balcony speaking with my friend. I was staring at a gap in the clouds (it had been clear earlier in the day). I was on the phone for about 15 minutes chatting while staring at the gap which hadn't moved. Suddenly, I saw something float by near the clouds that had no lights and it LOOKED like it was black and white. The shape looked curvy like an "S" shape and it floated across the gap in a straight line. The only illumination was from the moon. It was fairly large and easy to see even though it was that high. (A lot of planes fly by there, but at the distance it was at, you could barely see the flicker of the lights from the planes.) It floated into the clouds and then the clouds on the left, closed the gap within 30 seconds. It couldn't have been paper. It was too large, too high, and too smooth in it's flight pattern. I was going to get my camera, but it was so dark, there's no way anything would have shown up.

Note: There is one major problem with this sighting: The moon was not visible at the time of the sighting (11 PM). The moon had set at 3:07 PM on May 8 and would not rise again until around 3 AM on May 9. Skies were mostly cloudy with one layer of clouds at 1,500 feet and the other layer at 1,700 feet. Therefore the moon could not have illuminated the object!
