The Sighting Occurred Near Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington.

Date of Sighting: November 16, 2010
Time of Sighting: 3:30 PM PST
Location of Sighting: Seattle, Washington (Georgetown Area - See Map)

Description: Listen to Clip of Witness Interview (MP3)
The witness called a few hours after his sighting. He was outside walking taking a break from work and immediately noticed about 10 bright objects moving in and out of the clouds. The objects were flying right below the cloud cover, but would sometimes disappear into the clouds. No apparent wings were seen on the objects which led the witness to conclude that the objects were not birds. He stated that the objects would fly a in circle, drop, ascend, and break away. He saw a commercial aircraft flying south below the objects. At that point the witness lost sight of the objects and they never returned. The sighting lasted about 2 minutes.

Additional Information Submitted by Witness: I spoke to you last night about the objects I saw in the sky near Boeing Field.  I have just read the report you posted, and I'd like to thank you for that.  I just wanted to re-iterate that the thing about my sighting that especially made me think I was seeing something weird that wasn't a bird or conventional aircraft, was that every now and then one of them would stop. They would be flying in their loops or bouncing around erratically, and then all of a sudden one would just stop in mid-air and hover for several seconds before returning to it's swooping, circular flight.  I witnessed several of them stop exactly where they were, as if paused for a little while, then keep flying.  They didn't slow down before freezing, and they would return to their motion at exactly the same speed they would been in before flying.

Additionally was the way these things dropped. They would be in a looping path and then suddenly drop straight down, what had to have been a thousand or thousands of feet if in fact they were at an altitude of 6,000 feet or more.  I am sure of it because from my point of view looking up at them, they would drop about halfway down toward the horizon.  I wasn't sure what the elevation of the cloud cover was, but I was fairly certain as I saw them that they must have been dropping a considerable distance.

Thank you again for taking my report, and please let me know if you hear from anyone else who also witnessed these objects.

Note: A check of weather conditions showed that visibility was 10 miles and clouds were broken (mostly cloudy) at 6,000 feet and overcast at 18,000 feet. Winds were from the south-southwest with gusts to 18 mph. Given the witness description and weather conditions it is highly unlikely that the objects were birds.
