Sighting Reports 2010 Man Spots Slow Moving Light in NW Sky That Flashed Red
Date of Sighting: June 12, 2010 Description: The called while his sighting was in progress. He was outside have a "smoke" and noticed three jets traveling southward. He at one noticed a bright fairly stationary light that was emitting red flashes on the top and bottom. No sound was heard. He went into the house for a few minutes and returned to find the light still in the sky, but the light had moved towards the south a small distance. The light was visible in the northwestern sky and was about 45 degrees above the horizon (half way between the horizon and straight up). Skies were clear at the time of the sighting, but winds were brisk from the west-southwest. Note: The witness said that the object could not be a balloon as it remained stationary while winds were brisk at the surface. At this time I have no other explanation. The planet Venus was visible in the area of the sky where the witness saw the object. Venus is very bright this month with a magnitude of -4.0. This is quite likely what the witness saw. Sunset was about 7:30 PM local time so Venus would have been very bright. Send Drawings, Photos, or Videos Relating to Your Comments
