Date of Sighting: April 10, 2010
Time of Sighting: 7:45 PM CDT
Location of Sighting: Washington, Texas (See Map)

Description: I didn't see the light (orb) in my little viewfinder. I took a picture of it and thought it was the moon until I discovered today that there was not a full moon last night.

Note: The witness is correct that the orb is not the moon. The moon had set at around 4:35 PM CDT (over 3 hours before the photo was taken) and was only 24% illuminated. The flash was used when the photo was taken. The orb could be the result of the flash off of the camera lens. Also the witness did not see anything unusual when the photo was taken. Other photos were taken in the same session without the flash and the orb is not present.

Comments Received on April 15, 2010: Most lenses are not round enough to catch a reflection like this and I would suspect they would be smaller and brighter. This looks like a real object to me. It looks like we are seeing it through a haze also (mellow).

Comments Received on April 23, 2010: This sighting is somewhat similar to a sighting on BLM land outside of Nevada City, California on October 23, 2009. I am Robert Chapman, MUFON Field Investigator #12885. This case report is in the MUFON Data Base. In the Nevada City case, the moon-like object was about the size of a full-moon, but was perfectly round and uniform in color (pale yellow). (There were no craters or color imperfections that one would see in a full moon.) There was a moon that night, but it was in the opposite direction in another part of the sky. It was a perfectly clear night. In addition, in the Nevada City sighting, the object was close, very clearly observed, and was traveling downward at a 45 degree angle at a constant speed of an estimated 30 mph.
