Chandler is a Suburb About 15 Miles Southeast of Phoenix.

Date of Sighting: August 13, 2011
Time of Sighting: 8:30 to 8:45 PM MST
Location of Sighting: Chandler, Arizona (See Map)

Description: The witness sent the video footage with little information. However, the audio portion of the video presents a good description. The lights were in a strange pattern and were disappearing and reappearing. Over 10 lights were present at one point and then diminished gradually as the video progressed.

Note: Could these lights be Chinese Lanterns? This is a doubtful explanation because the lights appeared to blink on and off and revealed different patterns. This is strange behavior. Also a similar sighting occurred in Aloha, Oregon (see comments below) at about the same time. The moon was visible in the footage. The moon was located to the southeast at the time of the footage. There were some scattered clouds at 10,000 feet.

Comments Received August 15, 2011: My wife and I saw the same thing on the night of the 13th, but we're in Oregon which (to me) would seem to rule out Chinese Lanterns. Meteors don't seem to be a great fit either given the pattern and I have never seem meteors moving that slowly. (Meteors would have had to have a very steep angle and it is odd they were travelling South to North.
