I was heading North on I-95 between Hillsboro Blvd. and Palmetto Park on Jan 12th, 2011 at about 7:45 PM when I noticed a bright blue-white light heading west coming in from the ocean. The color of the light was different from any spot light on an aircraft that I had ever seen. It was at an altitude of approximately 800 to 1000 feet, which also caught my eye because it seemed a little low for the air traffic that we are used to seeing down here. As it was heading west, it reached the highway, about 3/4 of a mile in front of me. It froze for an instant, reversed direction without making a banking turn, started heading back towards the ocean, and split into two separate objects! The one leading them out to sea was changing colors rapidly (red, blue, white, yellow). As I continued north on I-95 I came even with it and as I looked East I could clearly see that they were two separate objects. I couldn't stop to try to get video on my phone, as I was in traffic, and the whole event only lasted about 30 to 45 seconds. I am sure that other people saw it as well. My first thought was that it might be a helicopter, but this was moving too fast for a helicopter, AND it would have to have been flying BACKWARDS very fast as it went back to the East, because the blue-white light was trailing the object that was changing colors. I am still pretty shook up about this and I hope that I am not the only one with enough guts to report it.
