Sighting Occurred in East Los Angeles Near Intersection of 710 & 5 Freeways.

Date of Sighting: June 12, 2011
Time of Sighting: 9:05 to 9:25 PM PDT
Location of Sighting: East Los Angeles, California (See Map)

Description: I saw the lights with my brother-in-law at about 9:05 PM. I was taking out the trash when he told me to look up and check out those planes in the sky. When I saw them I knew they were not airplanes. There were about 8 to 10 of these red lights rising in the western sky before they slowly disappeared one after the other. I proceeded to move to the backyard where I have an unobstructed view of the western sky. There I saw another group of lights, about 8 of them, that were emanating from the SW beyond the hills. These lights were not UFOS. they looked like they were being launched from a point SW of my location. I assume it was one of those missile launches, but different because these lights did not have a trail of smoke behind them like a typical rocket launch would. After the second group of lights I saw three more of the lights emanate from the same location one at a time a few minutes apart. This was enough time for the previous light to disappear. I continued to observe the western sky for another 10 to 15 minutes and then I saw a very bright white light rising from the same southwesterly location as the red lights. At first I thought it was a satellite, but I realized that it was much to bright to be a satellite. It looked more like the space shuttle or the space station flying overhead. This object continued in a northeasterly path towards the mountains where it disappeared in the horizon over Mt. Wilson. As it flew directly over me I saw a flash in the sky just south of the object. I continued to observe the night sky when I saw another object flying in the western sky from north to south. This did look like a typical satellite crossing the night sky overhead. It was a lot dimmer than the first object. My daughter was with me watching this object cross the night sky when she saw a few flashes behind the object as it crossed the sky. She thought it was a shooting star, but it wasn't, I saw the flashes too. It looked like the flashes that occurred with the first bright white object I saw. It was a very interesting night to say the least.

Note: The above report was written by one of the witnesses. The other witness report came by phone call. One of the witnesses called 911. The 911 dispatcher had no explanation. Other similar reports have been received from the area. One of these reports included a photo. Click here to read that report. These sightings have not yet been explained. The reports bear some resemblance to military flares or Chinese Lanterns. I am not aware of any explanation in the local media. Certainly many must have seen these lights. Some of the later lights may have been satellites. (This point was made by the witness.)
