Date of Sighting: July 3, 2011
Time of Sighting: 1:30 to 2 AM PDT
Location of Sighting: Manastash Ridge Near Ellensburg, WA (See Map)

Description: I have attached a few photos of what I believe to be a UFO. (Please verify that this was not a planet. I tried to look it up on the internet and could not find anything about what planets were showing at around 1:30 - 2:00 AM on July 3, 2011). Over the last several nights, my husband and I have been seeing several "high flyers" UFOs from our backyard in Yakima, WA (approximately 10 a night). Last night we decided to go to Manastash Ridge in Ellensburg, WA (which is about a 1/2 hour away from Yakima) to get a better look at planets, shooting stars and possibly UFOs. There is a military base between Yakima and Ellensburg so we felt our chances of seeing a UFO were very good because there are many sightings around military bases). We arrived at the ridge around midnight (and left at 3 AM). We saw 13 shooting stars, 9 "high flyer" UFOs (which looked like stars streaking across the sky at a very fast rate) and 2 very strange looking "planets/stars" (which were way too low in the sky. We brought our camera, a large telescope and binoculars and compared one star, planet or UFO to other things in the sky to make sure we knew what we were actually looking at. We decided to focus on 2 "stars" that were changing colors dramatically. Between 1:30 and 2:00 AM, we noticed one of these "stars" rising from behind a mountain ridge which was set back from the city of Ellensburg. It caught our attention because it was extremely low in the sky and changed colors. I submitted 3 of the best pictures of the most suspicious "star." We took other star pictures to compare and it was very obvious this was no star. It's possible it might have been a planet, but the colors are very vibrant and way to symmetrical. It looked to have a very sharp round, hard edge. Stars usually have gases around it and do not have a very defined circular shape like the pictures I submitted. To me, it looked like it was trying to pose as a star or planet. At around 3 AM we finally left while the UFO was still there. I have all original pictures if you would like to see them.

Note: A check of astronomical data revealed that no planets (or the moon) were visible at the time of the sighting. Also according to the report the object was seen towards the city of Ellensburg which is in a different direction than the Yakima Firing Range. Given this scenario it doesn't suggest that the object was associated with military activities.
