The Sighting Occurred in West Central Oregon
on the East Slopes of the Cascade Mountains.

Time of Sighting: Between 4:45 AM & 6 AM PDT

Description: At 4:45 AM September 3rd while elk hunting I observed a flashing round light in the sky flashing several different colors. The object was very bright and at first was just motionless. Then it started moving up and down, left to right and then started making very erratic movements as it went from one point in the sky to the next. I shot a short video and thought my camera wasn't picking it up on my phone so I stopped. The light then came much closer than it had and a red beam shot down to the ground for a very short time. It then went to one point in the sky and stayed there for 15 minutes or so and then slowly moved to another point in the sky and stayed there until it got too light to see it. I observed this for over an hour and have no idea what I saw. I can tell you it was not a plane or a helicopter as the way it flew was very was much different than anything I have seen. The object made no noise that I could hear and was constantly flashing different colors. My father is a helicopter manager for the forest service and I am very familiar with what a helicopter looks like flying at night, and it looked nothing like this.

Note: The witness's video has been reviewed and a faint light can be seen in the video enlarged and brightened. The light appeared to be flashing, but appeared quite dim. A still image of the light (object) is shown above. One wonders why the object became invisible when it became daylight?
