Date of Sighting: January 16, 2011
Time of Sighting: 9 PM PST
Location of Sighting: Near Oak Harbor, Washington (See Map)

Description: Around 9:00 PM on January 16, 2011 my Fiance and I took my three children ages 11, 9 and 8 to play flashlight hide and seek at our local park. Walking from the parking lot to the playground I became aware of two amber/orange globes that appeared to be floating over an area just south of the town of Coupeville, WA. I pointed it out to the kids and my Fiance. He tried very hard to convince us that they must be helicopters and I continued to show him that it was undeniable that they were not.

These two globe shaped lights hovered or floated next to each other coming in and out of sight for the full hour we spent at the park. They seemed just a bit too large to be the light of a man made object and did not beam in one direction, but rather seemed to be a ball of light. They moved often just a little up and down or closer together or farther apart. They would get brighter and dimmer and at some points seem to be gone, visually, altogether. However, I had this feeling that they still remained there even though they appeared to be gone.

I have seen them in the very same way years previous and found a strange comfort in seeing them again. I remember driving the last time I saw them hovering over the same area in Coupeville. I had the same feelings of interest and comfort. I do not, however, recall when that occurred. I know I was alone and merely took note that it happened and never discussed it with anyone.

My children and I just got through watching a documentary on the lights in Phoenix, AZ, and the similarities sparked my interest in finding out if my family were the only ones to see the lights back in January. The only difference I could gather from the lights reported over Phoenix and the ones I have seen over Coupeville, WA is that the ones I have seen appeared to not be connected to one large object, but indeed were separate from each other.

Note: Light rain was falling at Oak Harbor at the time of the sighting. Visibility was 10 miles and cloud bases were measured at 3,200 feet. Given this observation the lights were likely flying quite low and were probably close to the witnesses.
