Description: I live in Orange, California, below John Wayne Airport's flight path so I do see lots of planes landing throughout the night. I am always looking up, however, because I have had sightings in that area that I couldn't explain. Anyway last night a friend and myself stepped out into my driveway around 10:30 PM. I was facing east, looking towards the Orange Hills. I then saw a rose colored light heading towards us. At that moment it looked as if it was flying as low as a plane would. However, the rose color made me keep my eyes on it. It started to flicker, almost strobing as a candle would and I interrupted my friend and asked him to look at the light because it looked strange to me. We both thought it was a plane, as it was coming down that same flight path. It was flying towards us from east to west towards us, but then started to make a wide curve to the northwest and upwards. It looked like (when it came close towards us) the bright light would turn off and on. Every time it would turn off we could see a red light. It was almost like when a helicopter turns off it's spot light you can see the little red light from the chopper. When we saw that light, it almost looked as if it was flying up and northwest, but half way from where I first spotted it to where we were it made one more flash. We saw the small red light again and then it started to dim until it fully disappeared. We kept searching the sky to see if we could spot any further movement, but it was completely gone.
