Large Orange Circular Light Followedby 30 Other Lights Moves Onshore in Night Sky.

Redondo Beach is Along the Coast of Southern California
About 5 Miles South of LA Airport.
Date of Sighting: October 9, 2011
Time of Sighting: Around Midnight PDT
Location of Sighting: Redondo Beach, California (See Map)
Description: I saw brilliant objects coming in from the Pacific Ocean. They were coming from the Redondo Pier area or Palos Verdes direction. First a large round red orange circular light appeared high up in the sky then followed by about 30 or more similar objects all going in the same direction, scattered, but following same path. The sky were very brilliant and clear around midnight. I called the Redondo Police, but they were as always difficult and seemingly uninterested? I have a photo.
Note: Skies were clear at the time of the sighting. The moon was nearly full (83% illuminated) and was located in the southwest sky at the time of the sighting. Could the bright light in the above photo be the moon?
