Sighting Reports 2011 5-6 Lights Cascade Down From High in the Sky Level Off & Move East
Date of Sighting: May 28, 2011 Description: We were sitting on our front porch looking to the northeast. We noticed 5 or 6 lights cascading down from high in the sky. They leveled out and more lights appeared, evenly spaced. They headed off to the east. I had pounded on the neighbor's door to get some more eyes on the street to help me confirm what I was seeing. Two of us followed the lights to the end of the street and looking to the north over our local children's park. We both clearly saw one of the lights stop, move left and stop, and carry on to the east again. It was at this point I left the camp of the Chinese lantern and joined the team I don't know. The entire episode lasted about 20 minutes. It was very silent and very beautiful. In total we saw about 12 to 15 lights. Some of them came close enough that we could see what looked like a little campfire enclosed in a jellyfish like sac or membrane. The lights moved in a strangely organic way, very controlled and uniform. They did not appear to be bothered by the shifting of the wind. They kept on a uniformly spaced path. We went into the house to watch the news to see what was happening and were surprised that nobody else seemed to have seen anything. We have since searched online for somebody to take credit for the lanterns. We have been unable to find anyone to take credit for the lights. I sure was hoping that the local Luminato Festival was kicking off! Response to Investigator Questions: Thanks for getting back to me. The attachments are photos of the actual event. My neighbor across the street was taking some photos too. I am not sure if he has had them developed yet or not as he was using an old school camera. My husband has a few moments of video, but it is shaky (as were we) and not very clear. We have 5 to 6 other images if you would be interested. If somebody launched those things I am hugely impressed. They did resemble images of Chinese Lanterns that I have now seen online except they behaved more organic. The "fire" source resembled a pine cone or a deco boudoir lamp almost like a sumac bob flick and it appeared uniform not flickering in the 3 or 4 that were low enough for us to see quite clearly. The "balloon " was oval in shape not the square edges of a Chinese Lantern. I am unclear how they got them to come down from so high, how they got them to stop on a dime and start again and how it is possible to make them travel so smoothly and uniformly spaced. There was no jerky movement like a kite moving on the wind. All motion was very controlled and steady. Also interesting to me was the lack of sirens. I live in an older Toronto neighborhood and somebody should have called 911, either to report the lanterns (fire hazard) or complain about the stunt. Perhaps they have done so. It maybe worth checking with local police or fire authorities. I am not sure if it is noteworthy, but after the lights had dissipated the sky was oddly white ( uniformly pale to the north, south, east and west for about 5-6 minutes and then a breeze came in off the water.) Note: The witness's observations of the appearance of the lights suggests that they are Chinese Lanterns. However, the observed movement casts some doubt on this conclusion. It is difficult to determine from the above photo if the lights are Chinese Lanterns. Several reports were received from this area. Click here to read these other reports. Anyone with knowledge of these lights is urged to FILE A REPORT. Send Drawings, Photos, or Videos Relating to Your Comments
