Sighting Reports 2011 White Light Changes to Red, Moves SE & Then Vanishes in Night Sky
Date of Sighting: July 1, 2011 Description: I saw a white light ( no wing markers, no flashing lights, no engine sound, and no change in intensity until it changed color and disappeared). It was moving northwest to southeast above Wichita Kansas. It looked like a bright headlight with constant intensity from every angle in my field of view which was I would say about 120 degrees so I would say the object was several thousand feet up. The object turned to a red color and then slowly faded away in about 5 seconds. The entire viewing time was about 1 minute give or take 10 seconds. Note: The Space Station was visible over Wichita from 10:24 to 10:28 PM on July 2. The witness could have seen the Space Station if his sighting time was incorrect. The Space Station wouldn't have been red in color so if the witness's observations are accurate, the sighting wouldn't have been the Space Station.
