Description: The witness was fixing dinner for his daughter and
son when his daughter called him outside to show him erratic,
dancing lights high in the atmosphere. His son was also
outside due to poor reception on his cell phone. He also saw
the lights. The witness said that the lights would zoom around
quickly and then disappear. Several planes appeared around the
area. The witness recognized these planes as Navy F18s from
Carswell Naval Air Station. After the planes appeared the
lights disappeared. Right after the planes left the lights
reappeared. The witness said that the lights moved around freely
like dancing fireflies. Suddenly the lights would dart off and
disappear. One shot straight up in the air and then
disappeared. The witness was quite excited about this sighting
and said that prior to this incident, he was a skeptic.
Investigator Notes: The National UFO Reporting Center received a
report from Memphis, Texas that occurred at 7 pm on September 22,
2004 (same date as this sighting). The characteristics of the
Memphis, Texas sighting are somewhat similar to the sighting near
Carswell Naval Station:
1. The witness to this sighting reported lights that were
appearing and disappearing.
2. The length of time for this sighting was about 30 minutes.
Memphis, Texas
is about 300 miles Northwest of Ft. Worth (see
map). The Memphis sighting occurred about 2 hours before
the Carswell sighting. This investigation is continuing and
any new information will be posted on this website.
