Description (In Witness's Own Words):  I took the photograph in September 1973. I was serving with the Army at the time and was taking part in a small military 'exercise' at a place called Penhale, near Newquay, Devon UK. I was driving a 10 ton truck, down a dirt track, to collect a platoon to be returned to camp. It was night, slightly overcast and, because it was a 'combat' exercise, I was driving on sidelights only. The time was about 02.00am and I was heading in a southerly direction when I spotted a dull orange glow to my right, (west) out over the North Sea. It was about 2 miles out and was the size of the end of a pencil, if held at arm's length, and about 10 degrees above horizontal. I had a small '125' camera with me, loaded with 200ASA film, so I stopped and took a photograph from inside the truck. I have no idea how big the object was because there was nothing to compare it to.

Investigator's Notes: This is an interesting photo taken by a highly credible witness (British Military).  Little analysis can be done on the photo given that it was taken over 30 years ago and it is now in digital format.  It is noteworthy that 1973 was a "wave year" for UFO sightings particularly in the fall.
