Description (In Witness's Own Words):
The weather had been VERY wet and windy during the night, but by
dawn the rain had stopped though the wind still persisted. I became
aware of something strange in the sky as I was waiting for my lift
to work. While standing there I chanced to notice an unusual aerial
phenomena hovering over Kirkby Moor (approx 7 miles away in a
southerly direction. At first I thought it was the moon, but
scanning the heavens, I located the 'real moon' much further east!
So what was it? It looked like an anvil or a hammer, it seemed to be
maneuvering about, as if it was taking readings or some kind of
photos? It was glinting in the (very strong) early autumn sunlight.
The paperboy was coming up the road (I lived on a farm in those
days) and his very words were: What the f... is that? My
colleague from work also displayed dismay as to what it was. When I
got to work, other people remarked about the sighting too! My mother
was feeding the hens at the time of the sighting. She observed it
for at least another hour, then it moved away. I don't really know
why I did not report it to someone at the time? Maybe apathy I don't
know? I have seen something else in May 2002 but I am running late
therefore I will relate this one at a later date. I think one reason
for me late admission is, the general disbelief in the world, as if
to say.....they don't exist because I have never seen them attitude.
Investigator's Notes. Here we have
someone reporting an incident nearly 30 years after the fact. The
witness obviously was impacted by this sighting and still recalls
vivid details. This witness sounds sincere and has been
responsive to follow-up questions. This case fits in the
"unidentified category."
