In the late 1970’s I was swimming laps at Heather Farms, Walnut Creek, CA at night. While doing the back stroke I was looking up at the sky and noticed a huge object in the night sky. I hurried out of the pool and drove home. On the way, at stop lights on Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek, I saw this object in the sky and couldn’t believe people in the cars around me weren’t looking up at this thing. I crossed the intersection and pulled into a gas station where I got out of my car and just stared at this object. It was not a flying saucer. It looked to be several stories high and was full of lights. It was amazing that it was able to hover like that in the sky and had the power to even be up there without falling to the earth. When I got home I called the local police telling them what I had seen and they gave me the phone number for the UFO hotline and I reported the sighting to them. It was fabulous to have seen this.
My husband at the time and I were driving to his brother’s home one evening in May 1989 in San Antonio, Texas. I noticed a very bright almost white light descending upon us from above almost like a helicopter spot light, but it just kept moving so fast and bright. I told my ex if he saw what I was seeing, but he said he was watching the road. Then the bright light quickly shot straight up and then moved across the sky like a meteor leaving colored vapor trail. It moved so fast and just vanished. I thought, well that was so odd. The next day it was in the city newspaper and others had seen it too. I cannot remember the exact date, but it was May 1989 because we were moving back home that year and were staying at my mom’s house in NW San Antonio inside Loop 410. Could you find that newspaper article? My children were not born at the time and I’ve been telling them what I saw and would like to show them the article.
I just came across the incident posted by P.D. Miller that occurred on Guam fall of 1974. Both he and I served in the same department, S-3, Engineering, U.S. Naval Mobile Construction. Battalion 74. I recall the incident clearly. Phil, or “P.D.” as he was referred to, was visibly shaken when he returned to our “hooch”. I had heard rumors of unusual sightings/experiences that same evening.

I lived in Walnut Creek, CA in 1972 and I witnessed a UFO at close range. I was 11 years old. I am now 51. The craft was rounded and spinning with red, blue and “other colored” lights. I recall many people standing outside in the apartment parking lot. I did not remember the incident until adulthood. My sister, two years older, confirmed that this was a real memory, but would not say more. It was after dark and in the summer. I don’t remember anything other than the sighting. (This means I don’t remember ever talking about it or even going back to my apartment.) Are there any other sighting reports that fit this time and description?

Thanks for your report. A “sighting wave” occurred in the early to mid 1970s. Many close encounters and flying disk sightings were noted in this time period.
Yes it was mid to late 70s that a cousin and myself experienced a close up siting late one night near Boone, N.C. My cousin and close friend is no longer with us, but I know what I saw.
