Location of Sighting: Between Peoria and Champaign, Illinois
Date of Sighting: August 19, 2016
Time of Sighting: 1 AM CDT
Description: I was driving back from Peoria to Champaign and at first I thought it was the space station, but then it just disappeared. There were no other stars in the sky and I think it was because of the full moon. I was just outside of Peoria when I saw it and it was just about 1 AM. I looked around in the sky for it, but I didn’t see it again. There were no clouds around it. It also looked like it made a flash about 4 or 5 seconds after, but I couldn’t tell for sure.
Note: The witness probably saw an Iridium Flare Communications satellite.
