Location of Sighting: Espanola, New Mexico
Date of Sighting: March 16, 2019
Time of Sighting: 2 to 4:30 AM MDT
Description: I see this light often, and have for several years, usually in the middle of the night, but sometimes earlier. It is unmistakable: a very bright hovering white light that flashes red then blue. If you watch long enough, you might notice that the color change seems to be from a slow spinning motion. On 3/16/19 from about 2:00 AM to 4:30 AM it was hovering north of Espanola, NM in the direction of Taos. The little research I’ve done doesn’t indicate that satellites or the space station flash red and blue. So, what is it?
During that time on 3/16/19, maybe around 3:00 AM my attention was called to two sets of lights hovering and slowly descending behind the hills somewhere northeast of Truchas or southwest of Trampas. The sets of lights were from two distinct structures/craft, each with a horizontal row of colored lights. I didn’t notice flashing or blinking. One was above and slightly to the side of the other. With no obvious motion, they synchronously disappeared behind the horizon over about two or three minutes. I’ve seen suspicious lights sink from the sky in the same direction before, presumably into a forested area. But these lights seemed to be a few miles away from me, but just close enough or large enough for me to see they were two distinct sets of attached lights and for me to distinguish each color in the row of lights.
