Bright Yellowish Star Becomes Dimmer Moves West.

Location of Sighting: Taft, Tennessee
Date of Sighting: August 12, 2018
Time of Sighting: 11:40 PM to 2 AM CDT

Description: The three members of my family – all adults – went out on front porch to see a meteorite shower. We are in the country so many stars were visible. What captured our attention immediately was the very bright “star” in the Southern sky. It was yellowish compared to the stars. Immediately it began moving just a little at first, slightly side-to-side. Then it began moving away becoming dimmer and moving West while still moving around some. We contacted a friend in the nearby small town. They also reported seeing the light – actually the only “star” they could see. Two of us became too tired to watch anymore and went inside. The third member stayed out and watched the meteorites and the light. They reported this morning that it continued making movements in the sky – even making loops and zig-zags. At about 2 AM the third member of the group retired with the light still there, having moved even further West.

Note: The witnesses quite likely were observing the planet Mars which is very bright in the southern sky.
