Time of Sighting: 11:30 PM Central Time
Description: I had an experience back maybe 6 or 7 years ago. I live in Portage, Indiana and it was about 11:30 at night and I was out on my back deck. It was a beautiful clear evening. I was looking through the trees to the southeast. Sometimes I could see the airplanes flying from this direction and keep going to the northwest. But I was watching this one particular “plane” which was not blinking, but rather was showing a steady yellow light. In a matter of seconds it was much lower in the sky and just behind the treetops. As I stared at this light, which was circular, not very big, it proceeded to come down and float right in front of my deck. I could have walked 10 feet over and touched it. It was about 16 inches in diameter, it was not blinking and it wasn’t very bright. It was more like an incandescent yellow ball that just slowly made it’s way across the width of my deck. It didn’t appear to have any rotation to it or dimension. It silently glided up through the neighbor’s trees to the north of me and disappeared. I never saw it come out on either side of the tree. It was just gone. There is something else I should mention. When I first saw it coming down through the treetops from the southeast it wasn’t very big. When it glided in front of my deck it appeared to be the same size as it was when I saw it coming from the sky. When it “floated” up to my neighbor’s tree and disappeared it never lost or gained any size. To this day I look up to the dark sky hoping I would see it again, but I haven’t had that opportunity again.
