Location of Sighting: New York, New York
Date of Sighting: October 13, 2019
Time of Sighting: 3 AM EDT

Description: I have a picture. I was taking pictures of the moon with Live Photo on my iPhone. It showed 1.5 seconds before and after pictures. I looked at it later and saw a bright light that moved from above moon to below in 2 seconds. I would love to send it you. I did not even see it until I looked at the photos and video later. Are you able to see it move?
Note: There was another report on Oct 13 of a similar blue object seen (and videotaped) near the moon. The witness has not responded to questions. The location and time of the sighting are not known. The witness’s account follows:
My husband and I both witnessed a blue orb bouncing around the full moon last night.
We saw it with our naked eye. Both of us filmed it on 2 different phones. We got the same exact result. Please explain that?
Very obvious lens reflections, but keep eyes on them skies!
By the way, your UFO reports are a great addition to After the Paracast. I always look forward to your week’s sighting reports.
I really enjoy presenting these reports on the After the Paracast show.
Just listened to After the Paracast, where you talked about this video. You expressed some doubt that it’s a lens flare. I watched the video over and over again and noted that the motion of the camera correlates with the motion of the blue object. I specifically call you attention to the vertical movement of the camera where the camera tips down in two motions. Notice that blue object moves down in sync with the camera motions. This is a definitive characteristic of a lens flare.
Note that lens flares aren’t fixed in the field of view, but move across the field of view in response to camera and light source motion due to internal reflection and refraction within the lens system. This is what we see in this video.
Thanks for your comments. I actually categorized the sighting as a possible reflection. I did get a report on the same date where witnesses actually saw an erratic blue moving object by the moon. Unfortunately the witnesses didn’t provide me with the location. They provided this report before I posted this report so they were not biased. It was a totally independent report. This casts some doubt on the lens flare or reflection explanation.
Rather obviously iria a lens artifact from the bright moon light source.
Sorry, but this is an obvious lens flare.
