Time Magazine (February 11, 2013 issue) features a lengthy article on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) commonly referred to as drones. Drones are used extensively by the military to conduct attacks and/or surveillance. Drones are now coming to civilian skies and are increasing in usage. Farmers use them to detect predators, realtors use them to take aerial photos of homes, police use them for surveillance or pursuit of criminals. Drones are also used by Federal law enforcement officials such as the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Border Patrol. The Obama Administration has requested that the FAA develop a plan for integrating drones into U.S. airspace by 2015. Given this scenario I suspect that many of these drones will generate UFO reports. The variety, shapes and sizes of drones continues to increase.

As you know Mr. Puckett, I have said that it’s almost a sure bet that some sighting reports of low aerial objects could well be some sort of drone being employed by everyone from our government to hobbyiests, maybe even 21st century voyeurs of the technology kind! But I know of at least two sightings by people I have come in contact with. One who has absolutely no interest in ‘things U.F.O.’, had a sighting during daylight hours of a rather large cylindrical object that suddenly came down over one of my neighbors’ backyard, and unlike any drone presently made, emitted no noise at all, and when it left, it accelerated so quickly he and his friend could barely catch it’s departure. BUT we do live within twenty miles of a military post, so maybe it was from this post, but why over my neighbor’s yard, and even if it WAS a “UFO,” what is it doing sitting over my neighbor’s backyard?
