Description: I saw a silver pickle shaped object overhead, saying 12:00 is directly overhead. Then the object was observed at approximately 10:00 at a height of 1,000 feet or more.
Even at that distance it appeared to be the size of a battleship. It hovered motionless without making a sound. I had no markings, windows, doors, hatches, tail or wings. The object appeared to be smooth and metallic. I watched the object fixed in the sky without noise or motion for about 8 maybe 10 seconds before it took off. The speed at which it traveled was unlike anything of this planet and I can liken it to turning on and off a light. It was there and it was gone. The propulsion to reach that speed also did not generate any sound or contrails.
I was 15 years old at the time and as sober as a Baptist preacher on Sunday morning. I went on to have a successful military career, married raised a family and am now retired; but I never forgot this incident.
