Description: I sent an illustration of the object that floated to my location. It hovered over me for 15 minutes then floated away. It was about 100 yards above the highway when first seen. It moved northwest at about 5 to MPH gradually getting lower until it stopped and hovered about 20 to 30 yards from the ground.
It was about 50 to 80 yards across shaped in a huge circle made up of a center sphere and an outer ring that rotated in elliptical manner around a center sphere. It had 3 lights mounted on the outer rotating ring that formed a triangle, red, blue and green. The center sphere had a white light also, but not as bright or distinct. It appeared the size of a 3 foot across ball held at arm’s length, taking up a large portion of the sky. It made no sound, moved very slow, smooth and gentle. The lights pulsed warmly rather than flashed.
The outer rings off center rotation was how it moved, like the center sphere would slide to catch up with the off center ring and the ring would rotate again at which time the center part would again slide forward to occupy the new area the ring had encompassed over and over, like a hula-hoop.
At some point I realized it was so low I could hit it with a rock, and then BB gun. It was flying east and I watched it until it went east and passed over I-65 again and out of sight.
I would say it happened in the summer of 1973. I was 12 to 13 years old. I am now 59.
