January 12, 2012 – Ventura Harbor, California – 9:30 PM PST

Description: Last night about 9:30 PM I was outside in the Ventura Harbor looking South. I witnessed the most unusual sight all of a sudden. It was like “tracers” shooting from West to East. There were about 6 long streaks with no tails moving rapidly and then seemed to be reversed or answered by the same lights shooting back to the West. The only thing I can guess was some form of tracer rounds from aircraft as if there was a dog fight. They could have been possibly maneuvers in the air with planes. Has anyone else reported this? It was over in a matter of seconds. It was very bright and long.Just checking in, I don’t usually see things or report.

I saw those lights last night 7/13/13 around 11:00 PM. They seemed to be a string of little lights hanging from a kite or a balloon.

I saw same thing here on September 8th.

I saw what Julian, Brophie & Chenna described. I understand it was the Fourth Of July. There were Fireworks all over the skies. I live in the Pierpont area of Ventura. I saw an odd somewhat STATIONARY object in the sky south-southwest of the Pierpont, Marina Park area, over the ocean. It had no “regular” running lights and no white lights. The lights were primarily red & blue similar to emergency lights. It was below the marine layer. Colors pulsated and switched colors and then became primarily red. The event lasted at least 20 minutes. There was no air traffic in the air at the moment I saw it, and the stars were not visible due to the overcast.

I saw the same thing as Julian only the date was different, January 18th, 2012 around 10 PM. The lights caught my attention even as I walked out into the brightly lit parking lot of a grocery store near my home about three blocks from the beach. The lights were that bright and vivid. It was hard not to watch. I did watch, probably for 5 to 7 minutes and followed it as best I could on foot. I was totally amazed as it moved southward. Unfortunately the video captured on my phone was horribly pixelated.

  5. Brophie says:

My girlfriend and I were driving southbound on the 101 Highway through Ventura when we saw the strange purple and blue light that Julian described. It was definitely not like anything we had seen before. It was hard not to watch, but I had to watch the road because I was driving. I wish someone knew what it was.

  6. Julian says:

I witnessed something unusual earlier, around 7:00 PM, over Ventura Harbor looking westward in the direction of the planet Jupiter. However, what I saw seemed to be very different. I actually have a short video clip of it.It was a small object which changed colors from deep blue to a beautiful magenta. It moved around in a slow and casual manner. It would sometimes disappear then reappear.
