Location of Sighting: Anchorage, Alaska
Date of Sighting: Late November or Early December, 2016
Time of Sighting: Evening
Description: Hello. I have never done something like this and probably never will again, but I curiously came across this page and it reminded me of something my girlfriend and I saw over the winter. We live in Anchorage, Alaska, and this happened in late November or December. We were headed to a place on the western edge of the city called point Woronzof. It was at night and partly cloudy. The moon was bright and overhead so we were approaching the parking lot and noticed in the sky the object huge and orange. We drove into the lot which looks over the inlet and is about 50 feet above sea level. You can walk down to the beach. Anyway we park and it is pitched dark and this orange thing instantly was lighting up the sky like you would think it would, and there were trees on the cliff obstructing a clear what would be a south westerly view. It was big though which was weird and being in Anchorage during the winter time the sun had set hours ago by then. We could also clearly see it was not the moon. We left to go down the road to get a better vantage point which was not helpful. We went back to look again and then clouds were obscuring our view. We eventually left and returned home. I have lived here my whole life and have experienced some odd weather phenomena, but nothing like this. I am not crazy and neither is my girlfriend. We have not talked about it since then as we were admittedly intrigued, but did not call the news. I am curious if you know what I mean. Hopefully you can help me out.
Note: The witness stated that his sighting was similar to the sighting of a low bright spherical object in Greencastle, IN on November 10, 2016.
