Large Red Ball of Light Passes Over Soldier.

Date of Sighting: July, 1968
Time of Sighting: 10 PM Local Time

Description: I was in Libya in 1968. I was leading a patrol of 4 men on a training exercise. I looked up at what I thought was moon. I recall the moon is very large and red looking. It then became larger and was getting nearer. It then passed overhead and looked like a ball of fire. I turned to my patrol to say did you see that? They had all ran back to base. For some strange reason I never discussed it with anyone, when I got back to base. I have often wondered what it was. It may just have been desert phenomenon. Has anything like this been reported before?
