Description: A man was out walking and noticed 2 red orbs moving westward in the night sky. One of the orbs sped up and then they both vanished in mid air. The lights were ascending and were about the size of stars. Skies were cloudy at the time of the sighting. The orbs were visible for less than 1 minute.
Note: Winds may have been onshore (from the east) given that the land mass may have been slightly warmer than the ocean due to daytime heating. If this is true, the lights would have been drifting with the wind and could be flotation devices (Chinese lanterns). The apparent acceleration could have been due to higher winds as the objects ascended. A check of surface winds at Fort Lauderdale Airport confirmed this as winds were from the east-northeast at 15 MPH.
