Description: I am trying to determine what it is I may have seen in the early evening sky. I was outside my house on the phone and looked up and saw what appeared to be a small red dot in the sky. When I noticed it I thought to myself that is weird ( more of a feeling). Usually I wouldn’t think much of lights in the sky. As I focused my attention on it it began to move extremely fast. It would move on a horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines zipping at random in one of the directional paths I mentioned. In whatever direction it would move it would zip for a short distance then stop and zip in another direction and stop and kept repeating this pattern without actually having any pattern to its movement. Two houses down on the opposite side of the street they have been setting off fireworks and I kept telling myself maybe it was hot amber from something they shot off. However, due to the odd extremely fast movements this is not possible. We have planes that fly in the area so I am use to those and there is nothing that I have ever seen that can move that fast and change direction that quick. This is the second time (once when I was younger) in my life that I have ever seen anything that I cannot rationalize. I have included a clip of what is similiar to what I saw. I did not tape the video. It is just similar to what I saw. Also due to it being on video it is not as clear as what I saw, but gives basic idea.
If you have any idea what it is I may have witnessed I would really like to know.
P.S. do not tell me it is a weather balloon (LOL) or a Chinese lantern. (I have seen these and are familiar with them and they do not zip in random directions.)
Note: The witness provided the following link (YouTube) of a video of a similar object:
Note: There were rain showers in the area near the time of the sighting. There also had been earlier thunderstorms. However, it is doubtful that the red light was weather related.

I saw it last night 12/21/2020 at 4:00 AM.
I immediately came inside and wrote about it.
THE GALACTIC RED DOT
It moved like a cosmic hummingbird.
I just witnessed an infinitesimal red dot high above the earth shooting across the night sky in complete defiance of established gravitational laws of aerodynamics. This tiny dot, the size of a pin head – the kind in men’s new shirts – zipped and zagged over chunks of sky, hovered split seconds, and then zip-zagged again. I tracked it for several minutes just to be sure I wasn’t hallucinating. I had never seen anything like it before. I am now a believer. I always was, but now it’s confirmed. We are not alone.
I went outside at approximately 4:00 AM to see if I could have a last look. My backyard is completely in the dark. Had I been in the front yard, where there are city lights, I would not have seen the Galactic Red Dot.
At first I thought I was making it up because it was so small and moving so fast. My eyes could barely keep up with it. I said out loud, “A plane doesn’t move that fast”.
Imagine raising your arm straight up to the sky and then bending it at the elbow so that your forearm is parallel to the cosmos. The distance from the tip of your fingers to the tip of your elbow would constitute large distances for an object miles above ground. The forearm length is what the Galactic Red Dot leaped in the fraction of a second.I don’t consume drugs, or alcohol.
I saw about the same thing. The red light was traveling far faster than any thing I have seen. I also watched another red like light was behind the first one. They then shot away very very fast. I know it was not an aircraft.
Yesterday, 19/05/2020, I saw a small red dot flashing in the sky with smaller white dots following it. There were only a few of them and they were moving very slowly across the sky. It wasn’t just my imagination as my whole family saw it. It may be unrelated, maybe its a planet, but whenever I look it up, nothing comes up. I’m in London by the way.
I also witnessed today means right now, the time is 9:20 PM and date is 24th April of 2020. I am surprised what it could be. I googled, but did not get anything just unanswered questions. Can anyone help me?
You might be seeing Venus.
I saw a red light up in the sky a few weeks ago. My sister saw it also. It was stopped then it zoomed to the west super fast and disappeared. It has been suggested to me that it could have been a drone because they act that way.
I saw this in Charlestown, RI.
I saw the same red star type object at Solan, Himachal Pradesh. I really want to know what it is. Please reply.
I just saw this tonight in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I saw it and then it started to move faster in a curve. I tracked it until it just vanished!
I saw this a few minutes ago while driving. I noticed a very bright red/orange light. I focused on to look for blinking lights and there were none so I determined it was some kind of star or something. I was a little concerned because of the color. I thought maybe it was some life threatening meteor headed for impact. Then I noticed it seemed very close to me, low flying, just above a hotel building and it caused me to stop in the middle of a turn into a shopping center. At that point I noticed it was moving slowly, but very smooth in a sort of wave like horizontal pattern – unlike any flight pattern any aircraft I have ever seen are capable of. The car behind me honked so I pulled into the shopping center and lost it behind the hotel I was referring to and as I began driving around looking for angles, eventually going all the way back down the original road I was coming from, I was never able to locate it again.
I saw this in South Florida in about October 2019. I took my dog out to the back yard at about 1 AM and there it was (this small red light moving around without any seeming purpose). It stayed in the same general area, moved side to side, up and down. It was a very quiet night and there was no sound at all. It actually looked quite close, perhaps 25 to 30 feet away. It did not pulse or flash. It was intensely red like a red LED light. I watched it for at least 5 minutes. I took the dog in and went back out and it was gone.
I saw this in Atlantic City, NJ in the summer of 1996. I was a passenger in a car and asked the driver if he saw it. He was driving in front so he missed it. I thought I was seeing things, but have never forgotten the way it moved. It was too slow and went in so many different directions I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Every now and then I hope to see it again.
Hello Phradra. I was wondering if it happened to disappear after you followed it with your eyes?
I just saw the same red light moving from a distance throughout my bedroom window. Since there is a Cyclone taking place in Fiji at the moment and the neighbourhood is completely dark. What could it be?
Hi, if anyone has answers please comment here!
I am in the same situation, about 15 years ago, in France, Normandie, my brother, his friend, my dad and I were star gazing. We saw a red light erratically moving in the sky. Then it went super fast and disappeared in the night sky. We still talk about it every now and then wondering what it could have been.
Hi all: Well it is 12:15 the moon was a full moon right above my house and I couldn’t help but borrow my son’s very good camera to get a snap because I knew he would not want to miss it. I got one or two photos and then a blue circular spot came on the screen. I assume I was picking up some light from something. I looked around with my own eyes and there were no planes. The camera was pointed flat up to the sky! There was no street light or other light. Then the dot changed to a yellow white and seemed to be trying to get into the shot. When I moved the camera away it followed! So I left the camera on it a little frightened and then it began erratically moving, then darted towards me getting bigger and then back again. At this point I tried to see it with my own eyes and couldn’t see it. I felt spooked and shut the window. What could it have been? I think because I had zoomed in on the camera is why I couldn’t see with my own eyes. A part of me wants to go back and look again. But I’m a bit nervous. I live southeast England.
I saw something similar a couple of days ago. It was a steady red light that didn’t move, which for some reason after a minute went extremely fast, turned white, blinked twice and was just gone from the sky. At first I thought it might be a flare, but come on I’m in a city area and it was way too stable to be one.
I thought i was the only one seeing this. I see it every night blinking red and metallic usually going extremely fast or really slow and very high up in the sky. I originally wrote it off as a satellite since I see it so much, until one night I saw it going unusually fast. Then it stopped on the dime changed directions really fast then shot off again very fast. Then it slowed down to almost a complete stop, stopped blinking and stayed red for about 5 minutes. Then it shot off very fast and disappeared as if it vanished. I live in Kansas city, KS by the way.
It was about 9 PM when I was looking at the moon then I noticed a red dot moving around a little fast. It stoped for about 17 seconds. I got up to make sure I didn’t lose it. I have never sawn something stop so quickly and keep moving. I noticed it was mostly red, but it flashed white then green about three times. It wasn’t too far up in the sky so I watched this for about a minute and a half. It stopped multiple times. It could technology the government hides.
I am based in the Netherlands. I saw two of those dots, sort of circling around each other. I don’t know how long they were there before I started noticing them. They kept going for awhile. I swear I saw light coming off of them. It might be lightning but it’s a very clear night and it is 1 AM. One flew in a western direction and it moved faster than a plane. The other is still doing it’s thing, going up and down, moving rapidly in all directions. Why are they doing that?
I don’t know if it matters, but I saw three “shooting stars” in half an hour not necessarily close to the moving dot.
I saw a red light moving around in the sky tonight around 8:45 PM. I keep looking at it move around then going up and down then after about 5 minutes it moved away and then I didn’t see it again. What was that?
All of you are not wrong what your eyes see. We are not alone.

I saw the exact same fast moving red dot in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 2003. It was in Cape Spear. It was dark, and it erratically zipped around the sky and was quite far up in the sky. You could see the city lights in the distance and it zipped over the city, made a quick dead stop over the city and went straight down into the city. It moved too fast to be a plane or anything else. I will never forget it.
I saw the exact thing today (4/13/2018) 8:15 PM, but it was different from video clip. I saw a pure red light moving in high speed from south to west. It was very high in speed. I am from India.
Trust me, I just saw something similar to the thing you have mentioned. I later searched in Google and found your comment. Dated 21/07/2019. This not my first time to see them.
Khushdeep
Is that your last name?
Well, you’re not crazy. My cousin and I used to watch these when we were young (30 some years ago). They were much smaller than most of the stars in the sky, but you could tell they were WAY up there. The ones we watched were a lot steadier than this, but would move slowly then ‘zip’ a long distance, slow down and zip again. We watched these on multiple nights. This was entertaining for a kid at that time.
December 16, 2017: Why no responses about this question after all this time? I am near St. Louis in a small town in Illinois. Every evening I see the same erratic moving light that changes colors from white to reddish. The time is early evening around 7 PM. It moves higher in the night sky as the evening progresses. I have done every conceivable search that I can think of for over a year and there is nothing to be found. I saw this on line this evening and it is exactly what I see regularly. It is ironic that the majority of sightings are in Indiana, Illinois, and Kansas. Help in identification would be greatly appreciated. I am fully aware that it is not a plane, satellite, or weather balloon.
I saw also exactly something this. It my girlfriend (now my wife) and I who saw it. That was many years ago. I asked her again. She still remembered the light exactly what had been described. It was almost 10 years ago in the town of Liloan, Cebu, Philippines.
Three of my friends and I saw the same thing. One of my friends said it was probably a weather balloon or a satellite, but this red orb made the most unusual movements that it’s just driving me insane trying to figure out if it really was an alien space ship. Honestly I don’t think anything on this planet could be that high and make erratic movements like what we saw. This was in Yonkers, New York.
I was googling this to explain to my boyfriend something I saw 15 years ago, and this is exactly it. I was sneaking a cigarette out my bedroom window when I was 15 when I saw it so around the year 2002. I’m in the United Kingdom.
I see the same exact thing over new Albany, IN often. I assumed it was drones, but I don’t know for sure.
I decided to do a search and found your post. I also saw this same thing. My location is south central Kansas.
I saw something move exactly like this pure red in color and it made a pulse shape in the sky on it’s exit.
