Location of Sighting: Arlington, Washington
Date of Sighting: March 31, 2018
Time of Sighting: Began at 10:15 PM PDT
Description: A woman saw a rotating triangular formation of white lights. The lights rotated clockwise. There was no sound and the lights were visible for about 40 minutes. The lights would repeatedly move in and out of the center. When they moved to the center the lights would brighten. There were a few “puffy” clouds in the sky at the time of sighting. The lights were below one of the clouds. The lights were sighted to the east towards Arlington Airport and remained in the same area of sky throughout the sighting. The witness lives about 20 miles west of Arlington Airport.
Additional Information Provide by Witness: The motion it was making was similar to a carnival ride called a ‘scrambler.’ Where the overall spinning ride had 3 sections that spun on their own axis as they circled the main circumference.
Once the scrambler resemblance came to mind, I had to search to see if there was a name for it. And I see my drawing is similar to the scrambler movement. Can’t believe I actually found a mathematical description of this:
Though as mentioned, the rotating smaller circling lights seemed to be making a more oval or tear-drop shape as they, in unison, returned to the center and then out again. I am guessing the shape of their independent loops was due to overall motion. The overall repeating pattern’s movement was quite slow, rhythmic, even mesmerizing, and maybe took 10 to 15 seconds or more to make one complete rotation.
Note: I am not sure what the witness saw, but sometimes ground laser lights used in commercial promotions can reflect off of clouds and produce strange effects.Note to Commenters: If you are reporting a sighting, be sure to include the location (city, state, country), date and time of your sighting.
