Description: I saw an object that was traveling from north to south. The object stopped mid flight to hover and then headed east at a high rate of speed. The picture is with a cell phone 3.1 mega pixel camera. My sighting occurred at 7.30 PM on 9/30/2012 in the South Shore of Long Island. The object was very bright and red-ish white in color. I would guess the object was 35,000 feet plus altitude, but I don’t know how big the object really was. MacArthur airport must have had the object on radar.

I have seen the same object I believe numerous times. I have seen the object at the same time you stated. Sometimes it fades out after being bright.
