Location of Sighting: Lafollette, Tennessee
Date of Sighting: August 29, 2019 (and subsequent evenings)
Time of Sighting: 10 PM to Midnight EDT
Description: We live in East Tennessee (Lafollette) and we saw what you described. I searched for shape shifting lights and my wife and I believe we witnessed something
almost exactly as you described tonight. We noticed that you spotted it in August of last year which makes it even more of an eerie thought. I heard a helicopter, but never saw one. Then I noticed a super bright star I had never seen and after going in and coming out a half hour later it had moved not far, but noticeable. So I got my telescope, but it was too far to make out. It appeared to be shape shifting and changing colors from red to
green to kind of a blueish, but most definitely it wasn’t the flashing of an airplane or helicopter. It appeared to shift from a disc to like an arrow shape to an almost figure 8 shape. I’m definitely not the skeptic, but my wife definitely is. I had to share this story. After reading your story my jaw dropped from similarities. This is the first time I have ever seen it, but I’ll definitely will keep an eye out for it again. It did appear to fade away slowly. It just faded to dark. It was so strange.
Witness Response to Investigator Questions: The time of the sighting was around 10 PM to midnight. I tried taking pictures, but it just looks like a star in the photo. I don’t have a great camera, but it’s been there every night since. I noticed it a few days ago. It always moves from left to right and disappears suddenly.
Note: I believe that the witnesses are viewing the planet Jupiter which was visible in the southern sky at the time of sighting. The apparent shape shifting and color changes can be produced by atmospheric distortion (particulate matter or other air pollutants). The witness is referring to the sighting of a bright light that flickered blue and red colors. This sighting was in Vonore, TN from August 9 to 12, 2018.Note to Commenters: If you are reporting a sighting, be sure to include the location (city, state, country), date and time of your sighting.
